NEET PG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test POST GRADUATION) 2017 is the most talked about entrance exam which is an eligibility-cum-ranking PG entrance exam to various MD/MS courses and PG Diploma Courses as per the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.

NEET PG 2018 entrance exam is a computer-based test for admission to postgraduate medical courses/ diploma courses shall be conducted by National Board examinations (NBE), an autonomous organization established by Government of India in 1982 with the prime objective of conducting Post Graduate entrance examinations on All India basis.

NEET PG 2018 Entrance Exam Rules of Government:

NEET PG 2018 is a mandatory test for gaining MD, MS admission 2018 or PG Diploma admission 2018 in medical colleges in India. Eligible candidates who want to pursue a postgraduate course in medical or diploma under merit in medical colleges in India must apply for National Eligibility Entrance Test PG Medical 2018.

Directorate General of health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will hold the online counseling for 50% All India Quota post-graduate Medical seats. Counseling for NEET PG 2018 is being conducted on the basis of NEET PG Result 2018 declared by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

All India 50% quota seats admission through NEET PG 2018 counseling by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is only for qualified candidates. Other candidates who score more than the minimum qualifying score but less than the cut off score in their respective category (SC/ST/OBC/UR) for candidates do not figure in the result for All India 50% quota seats.

However, there are institutions such as AIIMS, PGIMER and JIPMER, which are statutory and have their own Act. These institutions will continue to be covered by their own rules and regulations unless and until the governing councils for these institutions decide to adopt NEET PG as a methodology for entrance test. The participation of these institutions in NEET PG will open up the gateway for admissions to candidates across the country. I am sure that over a period of time they would also participate in NEET PG globally.

Why NEET PG scores are important:

NEET PG scores will be an essential requirement for admission to MD/MS courses in institutions controlled by state governments, universities, deemed universities and medical colleges/institutions.

NEET as a methodology for entrance has been introduced by an amendment to the Indian Medical Council Act and Dentists Act and, accordingly, the scores of NEET-PG will be valid for institutions under state government, universities, and deemed universities which fall in the ambit of these Acts.

Aspirants are required to note that they can go through college wise breakup for general, OBC, SC AND ST Categories. The counseling for various categories of State quota seats will be conducted by the concerned State Medical Directorate/Counseling authority(s) of the State/UT/Private Universities/Medical College/Institutions. Total number of Seats in the MDS Program across all 240 Dental Colleges (including those in Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Telangana) is 5896 as per the Official data. The total number of MDS seats available through national counseling is 2656.
